Yes all our bookings require full prepayment. The question of payment in advance is important and requires an understanding of our position in this respect. Having confirmed your booking, you have concluded a contract with us and we are holding your accommodation exclusively for you while denying other enquiries the opportunity to occupy and hence the prospect of re-letting it. Cancellation often involves our not being able to re-let the accommodation at all and there is obviously an economic implication for us. Payment in advance serves as an incentive for the guest to fulfil his / her obligations under the contract, and while most of our guests are honourable, there are customers who simply do not show the courtesy of arriving.
We prefer an EFT payment, but on the rare occasion when this is not possible, we will take a credit card payment with an additional 4% bank transaction fee.
This has to be done via written notification to our email address.
No, there is a graded penalty depending on the notice period we receive.
Check in is between 2pm and 6pm; and we do request both a cell number and expected arrival time to ensure a staff member is on hand to meet you and show you to your room. Late arrivals without prior arrangement are charged at R100 per hour.
Check out is by 10am. We request the guests switch off all lights and plugs in use, and leave the key in the door before closing it and leaving. The gate will open automatically when you leave.
We can supply a mattress on the floor with required linen at a nominal rate. We also have a high chair if required. We do not have a cot.
Yes we have uncapped wifi in all of our units. The password is displayed inside the unit.
Yes each unit offers a flat screen TV with full DSTV.
Each unit has a self-catering kitchen with a microwave, two plate stove, mini oven, bar fridge, toaster, kettle, cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery. So meals are self-catering.
We have Pépère Café on site which is open 7 days a week and offers wonderful breakfasts and lunches. If you require dinner, we can arrange home cooked meals for reheating from Pépère Café, if given 24 hours’ notice. There is a copy of their menu in the info file in the unit.
Yes, our staff can do laundry at a fee of R120 per load or R60 per half load; and ironing at R120 per load and R60 per half load.
Each unit has an undercover parking bay available for one car. Any additional cars are also parked off-road behind an electric fence.
All units have full bathrooms with both a shower and a bath.
We have a communal braai area in the grounds close to the units, and guests are welcome to make use of these facilities.
Yes, the units are cleaned daily at 10am; and for longer stays there are also linen changes every few days.
We have The Avenues Shopping Centre 3kms from Harrington House. This offers a Pick n Pay, Liquor store, Dischem, Bargain Books, four coffee shops, a Vitality Gym, and a number of other stores. The Hilton Life Hospital is 3,5kms from Harrington House. Hilton offers a variety of restaurants all between 3km and 8kms from Harrington House. We are 3,5kms from the N3 highway, so a short drive into Pietermaritzburg, or to the start of the Midlands Meander.
