Join us at a wedding venue walkthrough

Imagine yourself trying to select a venue for your wedding as a bridal couple. Taking a walkthrough of the venue can go a long way to showing you what is possible and helping you envisage what your wedding day would look like.

Join us for a virtual walkthrough of Harrington House now.

Bar

The stunning bar is where we start our walkthrough. It has double doors opening onto a side deck which overlooks the gardens. It offers an ambient fireplace for chilly weather and has 3 attractive wrought iron and oak cocktail tables with 9 barstools conveniently placed around the room. The brass inlay on the front of the bar and marble counters ensure an upmarket, classy feel.  We also have a ramp at the suggested gradient for ease of access with a wheelchair to the venue.

Porch

This is the perfect area for friends to gather for a drink ahead of being seated and for those who smoke as it is open to the elements. The side doors also allow another service area for the bar, which helps prevent congestion when proceedings are busy.

Front Window

The stack-back bar windows enable us to serve drinks directly onto the verandah. These windows also link the bar to the outside area which gives each wedding a cohesive, sociable atmosphere.

Main Venue

The main venue room is situated alongside the bar which encourages the wedding group to congregate rather than separate. We also encourage brides to use the area alongside the bar for their dance floor, as experience has shown guests are more likely to dance and have fun with this set-up. The venue also offers airconditioning or a fireplace to deal with any weather forecast.

Main Venue

Verandah

The front verandah becomes part of the main venue once the steel stack-back doors are opened to their full extent. The verandah is equipped with a further 6 cocktail tables and is an ideal area for serving canapes and enjoying sundowners.

A server can also be used as a harvest table if the couples chose this. The verandah is elevated and has wonderful views overlooking the extensive grounds. The steps leading down to the gardens also offer an ideal spot for a group photo; or for the bride to make her ‘entrance’ if she decides to use our stretch tent on the lawn for her ceremony.

Projector

For those couples keen on sharing a fun photographic display of their journey together with their guests, the venue has a state-of-the-art short-throw projector. (There is an additional set charge for this service.)

Speakers and lights

The main venue room has four speakers (for the projector) positioned in the light fittings. The lights are 25 beautiful hand-blown artworks forming the major feature of the room.

DJ’s

Our main venue has been equipped with the latest technology for use by DJ’s, enabling them to select 6 different plug points which pipe their music around the room to any position they select for their speakers.

Bathrooms

There are beautifully curated bathrooms that are wheelchair friendly, for men and ladies. The ladies restroom features stunning wallpaper, framed pictures and lamps.

Kitchen

The kitchen is a caterers’ dream! It has an industrial oven, 6 gas hobs, a custom-designed steak griller, an industrial dishwasher, an ice machine, two deep freezes, a fridge and a huge walk-in cold room. It also has 5 stainless steel prep tables and a plate heater.

Photographs and Ceremony

There is a smaller venue also on offer, either for the ceremony in the event of inclement weather; or for further photo opportunities on the day. One wall is painted with the velveting technique which provides a rich backdrop to wedding attire. We also offer our atmospheric wine cellar which is a romantic setting for photos.

Wedding Tree

Our walkthrough would be incomplete if we did not visit the ‘Magic Faraway Tree’, aptly called this by those who visit and was one of the factors in purchasing Harrington House. The tree is usually the first thing couples fall in love with! It serves beautifully as the ceremony venue, but would be equally stunning as an area for walked-around canape service. It requires very little additional décor in terms of flowers, etc, as the tree itself is the ‘wow’ factor.

Bridal suite

Our bridal suite is 5-star luxury. From the most comfortable bed imaginable to the enormous, beautiful walk-in shower; to the private verandah and garden. What’s not to love?

Elevated hooks allow the bridal parties’ dresses to hang with no creasing. The six mirrors show off the outfits from every angle; the numerous plug points allow for simultaneous pampering; the kitchenette allows for tea/coffee/champagne/snacks on tap. The airconditioner regulates the temperature, and a solid garden wall ensures privacy while the bride and her attendants have fun getting ready.

Bridal suite walkthrough

This walkthrough can be done in person, which is obviously the best option. Come and see how we can make your wedding day as special as you would want it to be. Book a visit with Jen on info@harringtonhouse.co.za or see more about our venue at https://www.harringtonhouse.co.za/contact/.
