Wedding Trends
Hair and Makeup
Less is more with hair and makeup trends. Brides are leaning toward a more natural look with an emphasis on light and simple, says Pink Book SA.

Lush Green Florals and Foliage
Wedding planners are noticing that more natural plants and foliage are being incorporated into weddings, bringing the outdoors inside. There is an emphasis on keeping the look natural with greenery suspended from the roof.
Unique Lighting
Fairy lights have created mood at weddings for decades. But this trend is changing according to Wedding Gateway. “Move aside, string lights! Receptions in 2019/2020 will be LIT with mixed pendants, exposed bulbs, fringed masterpieces, mini lampshades and capiz shell chandeliers. Lightboxes and neon signs are replacing chalkboards, while big lit-up letters is still a favourite”.
Decor Trends
Black is back! This is quite a dramatic twist on the pastel approach we see all over social media. It is definitely a trend for the modern bride who wants something sleek, modern and edgy.
“The beauty is in the contrast of dark and light. You can play around with this trend by incorporating whites and grey for a more monochromatic look, or stick to the black and darker colours (in linens/candles/florals, etc).” says SA Weddings.
Mesh and Plinth stands
Making quite an impact this season, and here to stay for the 2020 season, are mesh and plinth stands trend.
“These stands are great for welcome signage and a table seating chart. You can also opt to use them as part of a ceremony backdrop.” says SA Weddings.
Wedding Cakes
There are about as many wedding cakes as there are personalities in this world. Everyone likes something different. The trend is moving back toward actual cake. Laughing Chefs say the more traditional styles of chocolate, vanilla and carrot seem to be making a strong comeback.
