How to plan a beautiful Midlands Christmas themed wedding

Who doesn’t love Christmas?

The thought of a Christmas wedding is probably not one that comes to mind immediately though. But it could create unique memories of your special day and ensure that both you and your guests are long enchanted by the memories.

Some of the things to consider when planning this kind of wedding would be:

Christmas Wedding Colour Scheme

Whether you are getting married in a rustic barn, a wooden-floored hall, or a marble filled country venue, you need to consider this before choosing your colour palette.

It is the season for some shimmering decor paired with earthy browns, leafy greens and muted wintery tones. But this doesn’t mean you can’t add some splashes of rose gold and velvet reds as a bit of cheer.

Christmas Wedding Flowers

How about adding some festivity to your blooms by sourcing some sparkling decor for your bouquets and flower arrangements.

Including a bit of Christmas spirit and playfulness by adding bows and ribbons will pick up the colours and tones of your wedding palette.

Add some seasonal touches to your floral arrangements to include some natural flair to your festivity.

Wedding decor ideas

Although South Africa is not known to have white Christmases, we so do still love our glitter and glow. Achieving this effect for your wedding needn’t be expensive. All that glitters is not necessarily gold.

You can create all sorts of glittery, sparkly decorations that needn’t be pricey. Using tinsel, glitter, baubles and ‘crystals’ bought from a local haberdashery will work wonders between your decor.

Also utilising what nature supplies can be a great way to cut costs. For example, using pinecones or dried leaves that have been spraypainted in gold or silver.

Christmas Wedding Food

Making sure your wedding guests are in a festive mood means some creative thinking about food. Especially when it isn’t particularly wintery outside.

You could potentially use small pastries, like mince pies for canapes. Using a refreshing salad for starters with summery colours, like watermelon or strawberries.

A warm meal is always a winner. But making sure the guests aren’t overfed is definitely on the cards in hot weather. Try to keep your meal balanced between warm and hearty, and tasty and refreshing food. Have a slow-roasted meat or vegetable option with tasty fresh veggies and chilled salads.

Christmas Wedding drinks

Why not keep your guests chilled with one of the newest wedding trends – a gin bar? Add a bit of ‘warmth’ to their cocktail with something that gives a bite. Or combine prosecco and gin for a fresh favourite that is doing well worldwide.

Who says Christmas can’t be the start of new traditions!

Wedding cake

A summer wedding Christmas cake seems like quite a mouthful. But it needn’t be.

Keeping it fresh with Velvet cake and berry toppings, modern metallics or glittering flowers will work well with a Christmas theme and keep your guests in a festive spirit as well.

Wedding favours

Wrap small wedding favours in Christmas paper or build crackers for the guests to take home with their gift inside. You can have so much fun with this. Or you can make baubles for your guests to take home to hang on the tree and remember your big day.

Having a Christmas themed wedding can be so much fun. Choosing a venue that could be in line with what you have in mind can make your day even more memorable.
